Abstract:
Every entrepreneur looking for an area to do their business (niche) must constantly analyze the changing economic environment. The degree of complexity of some of the studied processes means that not all analyzes can be performed using simple statistical tools. It is important for employees to have the ability to build more complex structures - models and simulations to make more precise decisions based on them.

Modeling and simulation is one of the subjects that logistics students learn in class. It is essential that students should have basic knowledge and practical skills regarding mathematics, statistics, computer science and logistics for the needs of creating more accurate models and skilful simulation. These issues are difficult but worth attention because of their practical dimension.

This article is a continuation of the publication on modeling and simulation of processes in logistics related to knowledge, practical skills and expectations in teaching. This publication contains a theoretical introduction to modeling and process simulation. The article also discusses the results of research in the group of logistics students carried out at the turn of 2016 and 2017. The following issues were analyzed and described here. The study was conducted on a sample of 320 students (practical profile, students representing three consecutive years of study).

Limitations. The study was conducted in the group of logistics students and only the research results can be obtained only in this group. Future research (comparative) can be conducted in groups of students of other fields of study of economics and science (eg mathematics, computer science). It would be interesting to identify differences in knowledge and practical skills - also for team building and team work in different subject areas. It would also be interesting to examine the potential complementarity between the team members in terms of knowledge and experience.
