본 연구는 비장애학생의 장애인에 대한 태도 변화를 목적으로 실시한 신문 활용 탐구공동체 교육활동에 관한 것이다. 신문 활용 탐구공동체 교육활동은 학생들의 학습 동기 유발과 협동심을 고양시킬 수 있도록 모둠을 편성하여, 사전에 제시된 주제를 중심으로 신문이나 인터넷 신문을 검색하여 과제를 협동하여 해결하게 하는 것으로, 본 연구에서는 78명의 비장애 중학생에게 이 활동을 실시하여 사전, 사후 개방형 질문지를 통해 태도의 변화를 분석하였다. 개방형 질문에는 장애의 의미와 개념, 장애의 유형과 특성, 장애인의 소외된 권리, 장애인을 만났을 때의 느낌, 장애학생과의 조별활동 및 구체적 활동 시의 감정, 장애인에 대한 편견, 장애인이 도움을 요청할 때의 행동, 장애인을 위한 봉사 활동, 장애인에 대한 예절 등이 포함되었으며 학생들의 답변을 유목화하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 신문 활용 탐구공동체 교육활동을 통한 장애이해교육은 비장애중학생의 장애인에 대한 태도를 인지적 측면, 정서적 측면, 행동적 측면에서 모두 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the activities of NIE Inquiry Community on changing attitudes of middle school students toward people with disabilities. A total of 78 first-grade students in D middle school of P City were sampled for this study. The attitudes of students without disabilities toward people with disabilities was evaluated with the open-ended questionnaire that consists of 9 items related to cognitive, emotional and behavioral elements. The results indicate that the cognitive, emotional and behavioral attitudes of students without disabilities toward people with disabilities are improved after providing the activities of the NIE inquiry community. Therefore, the result of this study suggests that the activities of the NIE inquiry community is an effective method which helps middle school students without disabilities change their attitudes toward people with disabilities.
