초록

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 국내에서 보완대체 의사소통 체계로 사용되고 있는 4가지 그림 상징체계 (보드메이커, 키즈보이스, 오케이톡톡, 포켓AAC)의 도상성에 대한 3세와 5세 유아의 연령별 인식 차이를 알아보는 것이며, 둘째 목적은 4가지 그림상징체계의 도상성 인식요소에 대해 유아의 연령별 차이가 있는지 알아보는 것이었다. 연구방법: 본 연구에 참여한 유아는 만 3세 47명과 만 5세 44명의 일반 유아 91명이었으며, 응답이 부적절한 8명을 제외한 83명 유아의 반응을 기반으로 4가지 그림 상징체계의 도상성 인식과 도상성 인식 요소에 대한 연령별 차이를 분석하였다. 도상성 인식을 위한 상징의 어휘는 명사 28개, 동사 9개, 형용사 7개, 기타표현 어휘 16개로 총 60개였다. 상징체계의 도상성 검사를 위하여 4개 상징을 모아놓은 모둠 상징판을 제작하여 사용하였다. 연구결과: 연구 결과, 첫째, 명사 어휘에 대하여 ‘냉장고’와 ‘버스’ 어휘의 상징에 대해서만 3세와 5세의 연령에 따른 도상성 인식에 차이가 있을 뿐 그 외 27개 상징에 대해서는 연령별 그림상징체계들 간에 도상성 인식에 차이가 없었다. 또한 동사, 형용사, 기타표현 어휘의 상징들에 대해서는 연령별 그림상징체계들 간에 도상성 인식에 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 그림상징체계들 간에 유아의 연령별 도상성 인식요소에 대한 차이에서는 명사인 ‘컴퓨터’ 어휘와 형용사인 ‘차가운’ 어휘의 상징 인식에서 연령별 차이가 있었다. 결론: 3세와 5세 일반 유아들은 일부 상징에서 도상성 인식에 차이를 보임으로써 어릴수록 상징의 해석을 도와줄 수 있는 단서를 활용하는 것이 상징 이해에 도움이 되고, 나이가 들수록 단순화된 그림이나 입체적인 그림을 활용하여 상징을 개발할 필요성이 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 상징의 도상성을 인식할 때 활용하는 인식 요소는 나이가 들수록 다양해진다는 것을 알 수 있다.
