Abstract

The Pre-Saharan aquatic environments in south east of Morocco have a great importance as support for various activities; the Iriki Lake was leading these environments. This lake was a home to a large number of habitats and a rich biodiversity, including several species that have a valuable interest in national biodiversity and even across the globe. Unfortunately, ecosystem services in the region are increasingly threatened by climate change and anthropogenic actions. In fact since the 70s the decrease of precipitation and the construction of Mansour Eddahbi dam are responsible for the drying up of Iriki lake who became a "salty desert". In this paper we assess how climate change and anthropogenic has affected ecosystem services and what is the human behavior to response (reaction) of these changes. The analysis is made through the application of the conceptual model Integrated Science for Society and the Environment (ISSE) developed by ILTER. In order to do it an analysis of available data and a program of outputs and a socio-economic and ecological survey, supplemented by interviews with the heads of government departments and local organizations working in the socio-economical and environmental field
