Abstract

The objective was to develop a low-cost automated monitoring system for a biological wastewater treatment system in an anaerobic lagoon. To this end, a potentiometer adjusted via regression was used in order to determine the current effluent level of the pond and a temperature sensor to determine the operating efficiency, automating this monitoring process facilitates the day-to-day operation in the treatment plant. of effluents and it is possible to estimate the hydraulic retention period that the effluent will remain in the treatment system. For this, the Arduino IDE platform was used using the TinkerCAD online platform. Finally, it was possible to develop an automatic system to monitor the level of effluent in the lagoon, its operating efficiency, and the estimation of the concentration of biological oxygen demand in the effluent present in the anaerobic lagoon, facilitating manual processes and helping to estimate the period of hydraulic retention. Results obtained were encouraging and showed aptitude to be implanted in the treatment plant to make it more automated and less susceptible to mechanical errors made by employees.
