본 연구는 언어재활사가 상담심리 관련 학업을 통하여 어떤 경험을 하는지를 깊이 있게 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 본 연구는 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 분석하는 지오르기의 현상학적 질적 연구방법을 통해 진행되었다. 본 연구의 참여자들은 총5명으로 현재 언어재활사로 일을 하고 있으면서 고등교육기관에서 상담심리 관련 학업을 졸업 및 수료한 자이다. 구체적인 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상담심리관련 학업을 통해서 연구 참여자들은 언어재활 학문에서의 부족한 부분들을 충족시킬 수 있었다고 했다. 둘째, 상담심리 관련 학업을 통해 연구 참여자들은 자기 자신, 가족 및 타인을 깊이 이해할 수 있게 되었다고 했다. 셋째, 상담심리 관련 학업을 통해 연구 참여자들은 부모상담에 있어서 질적 향상을 가져왔다고 했으며, 대상자 재활과정에서 대상자와의 관계 증진 및 대상자들의 심리․정서적 필요를 채워주는 등의 다양한 긍정적인 효과들이 있었다고 했다. 이러한 결과는 언어재활사 양성교육과정 안에 상담심리 관련 교과들을 추가해야할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of the participants in regard to their counseling psychology-related academic coursework, and to suggest what needs in current speech-language pathologist’s training courses. This study was conducted through the phenomenological analysis of Giorgi. The participants of this study were five persons who were working as speech-language pathologists and completed counseling psychology-related academic coursework in higher educational institutions.
The results of this study were as follows: First, the participants of this study could make up for the insufficiencies of knowledge as the speech-language pathology through the counseling psychology-related academic coursework. Second, the participants of this research could improve the understanding of himself/herself as well as his/her family and others through the counseling psychology-related academic coursework. Third, through counseling psychology-related academic coursework, the participants of this study could experience the improvement of parent counseling skill and diverse positive effects such as improvements in the quality of relations with clients and become aware psychological and emotional needs of the clients during the rehabilitation process. This study suggests that counseling psychology-related academic coursework should be included in speech-language pathologist’s training courses.
