Abstract:
The present work shows the presence of certain polyphenolic compounds in the petals of a cultivar of ancient rose, 'Rosa Narcea', recently described for the first time and selected in the north of Spain. The results show that the petals of this rose have a high content in flavonols such as the derivatives of quercitin (10,887.93 µg g‑1) and kaempferol (1,475.34 µg g‑1). This composition suggests that this cultivated ancient rose may be of interest for cosmetic, gastronomic and medical purposes.
