SOURCES OF VARIABILITY IN CITRUS LEAF TISSUE ANALYSIS RESULTS II. VARIABILITY DUE TO SAMPLE ANALYSIS METHODS

Abstract:
In two experiments, citrus leaf samples were subjected to two different sample handling procedures. Treatments simulated techniques used by researchers and those employed by commercial citrus growers for despatch of leaf samples to analytical laboratories. Samples were sent to several laboratories. The aim of the experiments was to distinguish between differences in analysis results caused by various sample handlinging techniques, and differences arising due to analyses at particular laboratories. Differences between handling treatments occurred for a number of nutrient elements. Considerable differences also occurred between the analysis results from various laboratories for every element except Zn. Many of the differences were consistent for each experiment.
