Description

This dataset was used in my paper, "Local Economic Freedom and Creative Destruction in America," which is forthcoming in Small Business Economics and is available at https://rdcu.be/bHPLr. The dataset includes quinquennial data for 299 U.S. Metropolitan Statistical Areas over the period 1972-2012. The dataset includes MSA-level variables such as economic freedom, numerous measures of firm/job dynamism, and a variety of economic and demographic characteristics. If you use the dataset, please cite both the dataset and paper as follows: Bennett, Daniel (2019).
