Description: This project aims to understand attitudes towards the policy implementation of an e-Bike-City from a resident perspective. We will study how an e-Bike-City might win the public acceptance needed for its implementation and how public opinion might be affected by (a) information provision about the advantages of active mobility modes, (b) ancillary policy measures, and (c) streetscape reallocation and design. It thus covers questions such as, how do the perceived environmental and societal impacts of different transport modes affect public opinion? Can information about the projected project, ancillary measures (e.g. public transportation discounts or participatory planning) or streetscape reallocation and design affect public opinion? The research relies on longitudinal survey data, including several survey experiments. The aim is to include a survey in an existing nationally representative panel study to capture their attitudes and mobility behaviour regarding an e-Bike-City and how these change under different scenarios and with additionally provided information regarding the effect of an e-Bike-City. The aim is also to compare different attitudes between urban and rural residents.
