| Objective | The ECOTAP 12 cruise had the following main objectives: data acquisition for better knowledge about the spatial-temporal distribution of various species of large pelagic fish sought after by longline fisheries and more particularly of tunas (yellow fin, bigeye and albacore tuna); - studying the behaviour and distribution patterns of targeted species depending on their biological and physical-chemical environments. It focused more specifically on the ocean zone of the Marquesas Islands archipelago. This cruise is part of the joint programme developed by EVAAM, IFREMER and ORSTOM on Study of the behaviour and distribution of tuna which can be fished subsurface in the Exclusive economic zone of French Polynesia. |
