In opdracht van Vereniging Windpark Bommelerwaard A2 heeft Vestigia Archeologie & Cultuurhistorie een archeologisch bureauonderzoek verricht in het kader van het project Windpark Bommelerwaard A2, gemeente Zaltbommel. Het project heeft betrekking op de plaatsing van drie windturbines. Voor de locaties van deze windturbines worden drie mogelijke alternatieven onderzocht. Voor de meest noordelijke turbine geldt dat de coördinaten bij alle alternatieven gelijk zijn, het betreft dus in totaal 7 verschillende locaties. Het bredere plangebied waarbinnen de archeologische waarden onderzocht dienen te worden in het kader van de m.e.r. heeft een oppervlakte van ca. 139 ha. De exacte diepte en omvang van de verstoring hangt af van het turbinetype en de daarvoor benodigde fundatie, maar vooralsnog wordt rekening gehouden met een verstoring per locatie van ca. 530 m2 en een diepte van ca. 1,5 m beneden maaiveld. In deze fase is nog geen zicht op overige bodemingrepen in het kader van de aanleg van de turbines, zoals de aanleg van bouwwegen, kabels en leidingen, etc. Het bureauonderzoek had tot doel na te gaan of er reeds bekende archeologische waarden in de vorm van archeologische monumenten of vondstlocaties binnen het plangebied op de specifieke geplande locaties van de windturbines zijn geregistreerd, en om een gespecificeerde archeologische verwachting op te stellen. Op basis van het bureauonderzoek kan worden geconcludeerd dat één locatie, namelijk locatie 3B, zich binnen een terrein met een vastgestelde/bekende archeologische waarde bevindt, namelijk het AMKterrein (nr. 4000 – kaart 3) met sporen uit de Romeinse tijd en Middeleeuwen. Hier kunnen archeologische sporen en vondsten nabij het maaiveld worden aangetroffen. De overige zes windturbinelocaties zijn niet gepland op een locatie met een vastgestelde archeologische waarde, maar deze bevinden zich wel in zones met een hoge archeologische verwachting voor het aantreffen van sporen en vondsten uit de periode LaatPaleolithicum tot en met de Nieuwe Tijd, dit gebaseerd op de verschillende landschappelijke zones. De archeologische verwachting, met aanduiding van de archeologische periode en de verwachte diepteligging, is weergegeven in tabel 1. Advies Op basis van de uitkomsten van het bureauonderzoek adviseert Vestigia om op de geplande locaties van de windturbines bij zowel alternatief 1, 2 als 3 een vervolgonderzoek door middel van verkennende boringen uit te voeren om de in dit bureauonderzoek opgestelde archeologische verwachting te toetsen (met name de diepteligging van eventueel relevante archeologische lagen), en zowel de mate van intactheid/verstoring als de dikte van een mogelijk ophogingspakket vast te stellen. Uitzondering hierop is de locatie 3B die zich binnen een terrein met een vastgestelde archeologische waarde bevindt (AMK-terrein nr. 4.000); gezien de vele vondsten die in de omgeving zijn gedaan wordt geadviseerd hier een vervolgonderzoek door middel van proefsleuven uit te voeren. Tenslotte met betrekking tot mogelijk andere ingrepen die mogelijk moeten worden uitgevoerd voorafgaand of tijdens de aanleg van de windturbines, zoals eventuele bouwwegen, en kabels en leidingen van en naar de windturbinelocaties. Gezien het feit dat de windturbinelocaties zich in zones bevinden met een verhoogde archeologische verwachting, wordt geadviseerd om, afhankelijk van de diepte/oppervlakte van de ingrepen in relatie tot de vrijstellingsgrens, ook hier een vervolgonderzoek door middel van boringen of proefsleuven uit te voeren.
