본 연구에서는 편향된 시간조망에서의 시각적 주의범위 차이를 알아보기 위하여 일련의 실험을 수행하였다. 527명의 참가자에게 시간조망검사를 실시하여 미래지향 시간조망과 현재쾌락 시간조망 간의 부적 상관을 토대로 각 집단의 극단점수에 해당하는 편향된 시간조망을 가진 참가자 20명씩을 선별하였다. 선별된 두 집단의 참가자들을 대상으로 자극유형과 자극-자극 자질 일치 여부가 체계적으로 조작된 실험조건에서 전역우월성 효과를 측정하였다. 실험결과, 자극의 유형(복합도형과 복합문자)과 편향된 시간조망 집단과의 전역우월성 효과에서 상호작용이 나타났으며, 복합문자의 전역우월성 효과에서 편향된 시간조망 집단 간의 유의한 차이가 있었다. 즉, 편향된 미래지향 시간조망 집단은 복합문자 자극에서 전역우월성 효과가 크게 나타났다. 또한 자극-자극 자질 일치 여부와 편향된 시간조망 집단과의 상호작용이 있었는데, 자극-자극 자질 불일치 조건의 경우에 편향된 시간조망 집단 간의 전역우월성 효과 차이가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 편향된 미래지향 시간조망 집단이 자극-자극 자질이 불일치한 경우에서 전역우월성 효과가 크게 나타났음을 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 편향된 미래지향 시간조망을 가진 개인들은 편향된 현재쾌락 시간조망의 개인들에 비해 더 큰 전역우월성 효과가 나타남을 알 수 있으며 이는 편향된 시간조망에 따라 시각적 주의범위가 달라질 수 있음을 시사한다.

This study was conducted to investigate differences of visual attention range in different time perspectives. The Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) was administered to 527 participants to distinguish two independent groups. Based on the negative correlations between the future orientation time perspective and the present-hedonistic time perspective, 20 participants were selected for each group. The global superiority effect was measured in the experimental conditions in which the stimulus type and stimulus-stimulus qualities were systematically manipulated. Experimental results show that there is no difference in the global superiority effect between the complex character and the complex geometry. In the case of stimuli corresponding to complex characters, the superiority effect of the future orientation time gaze group was greater than the present hedonistic time gaze group. Also, the main effect of the global superiority effect was significant in stimulation-stimulus disagreement condition compared to stimulus-stimulus qualification condition. In the stimulation-stimulus disagreement condition, the global superiority effect of the future orientation time gaze group was greater than the present hedonistic time gaze group. These results confirm that the future orientation time perspective can have a larger global superiority effect and suggest that visual attention range may change according to the time view of the individual.
