Abstract: In order to clean the foot-and-mouth disease(FMD) in some large-scale breeding farms in Hubei and Anhui Provinces, the comprehensive measures via the integration of vaccine immunization, detection, monitoring, elimination and biosafety technologies were taken in this study. After five years of efforts, the disease was successful cleaned and the FMD-negative pig populations were established.Serological/etiological assays were also performed for the samples of blood, tonsil, saliva, and environmental swabs to validate the efficacy. The results showed that serological 3 ABC antibody positive rate of the farms in Anhui Province decreased from 7.9% to 0.0%,while the rate of positive O antibody increased from 81.3% to 94.3%;3 ABC antibody positive rate of the farms in Hubei Province maintained at 0.0%,average positive rate of O antibody increased from 89.7% to 93.0%.The above results demonstrated that the measures taken in this study are effective in controlling and eliminating FMD.
