A New Species of Hildaea (Poaceae, Paspaleae) from Northern Brazil with the Smallest Spikelets in the Genus
Abstract—
We describe and illustrate Hildaea parvispiculata , a new species from northern Brazil first recognized during analyses of herbarium specimens and later confirmed as new through molecular phylogenetic analyses. It is known from the states of Pará and Tocantins. Its conservation status is calculated as endangered (EN). Notes on phylogenetic placement, geographic distribution, habitat preferences, morphology, and pictures of the living plant are provided.
