본 연구는 내용 영역 교과의 학습 맥락에서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있는 어휘의 특징을 실제 문법 영역과 사회 교과서 텍스트의 어휘 분류를 통해 확인하고, 교과 학습 어휘의 개념 및 그 특성과 기능에 대해 검토하였다. 국어과의 문법 영역과 사회과의 학습 과정의 맥락에 따라 어휘를 교과 학습 어휘, 사고 수행 어휘, 매개 어휘로 분류하였으며 이를 양적으로 분석하고 질적으로 검토하였다. 이를 바탕으로 교과 학습 어휘의 특성과 어휘 교육 접근 가능성을 모색하였다.
The present study identifies the characteristics of the vocabulary that take important roles in the learning contexts from the textbooks of Korean grammar and social studies and investigates the concept, the function, and the characteristics of the subject learning vocabulary. The study sorts the vocabulary into three categories:subject learning vocabulary, cognitive processing vocabulary, and intermediating vocabulary, then analyzes them using quantitative methods. As results, the study confirms that subject learning vocabulary has the characteristics of concept as well as subject-specific traits. The learning process shows gradual development and the concepts are elaborated through the connection with everyday vocabulary.
