AB - In the psycholinguistic literature regarding the ambiguous relative clause (RC) structure, cross-linguistic differences in attachment preferences have been reported. However, while most empirical studies focused on cross-linguistic differences, few published studies investigated factors that could influence attachment preferences within a language. This study has two main research questions. The first is to examine if Korean is really a language with a high attachment (HA) preference. The second is to investigate the effects of sentence complexity on Korean RC processing. The current study finds that the Korean participants showed a low attachment (LA) preference, suggesting that sentence complexity is a factor that may sway RC attachment preference within a language.
