Abstract

Precast, prestressed concrete is used at many locations for a multitude of functions throughout the multi-billion dollar Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston, Massachusetts. One major aspect of this project is the need for temporary bridge structures to keep traffic flowing smoothly during this long construction period. This article describes four superstucture design choices which can be used for these temporary bridges.
