Magnetic nerve stimulation has been widely used in neurophysiological research and clinical diagnosis. We have developed localized magnetic stimulation of the brain and peripheral nerve by means of a figure-of-eight coil.
In this paper, we have developed repetitive magnetic stimulation with pulse trains. We have obtained the long latency motor evoked responses in human subjects by means of a single pulsed magnetic stimulation. We have also obtained the effects of repetitive magnetic stimulation in long latency motor evoked responses. Effects of repititive stimulation of median nerves on long latency motor evoked responses are also discussed. The time duration between a nerve signal's initiation and motor activity varies with the “Functional Path” chosen by the nerve signals.
