Abstract Databases in the System of Information Providing of Education and ScienceAbstract: The role and place of electronic abstracts in the processes of information support of education and research activity is examined. The factors of improving the refe- rencing of scientific information using of the latest technological tools are determined. The importance of contextual indigenous referencing in terms of exponential growth of the information array is emphasized. Methodological recommendations (based on new requirements for the Ukrainian scientific editions) for improving the quality and presentation of abstract information are suggested. Keywords: abstract databases, educational resources, information infrastructure, integration of information, scientific communication, semantic technologies.
