The metabolism of endosulfan in rats and mice was examined by thin layer- and gas-liquid chromatography using electron capture detectors. Five metabolites were identified by comparison with model substances. The latter were postulated and synthesized on the basis of oxidation, hydrolysis and conjugation of reactions assumed for endosulfan and the resulting products. By using of C14labled endosulfan, it was found that the identified lipophilic metabolites form 20% of total metabolites.
