In the binary system Li—Ge we have found the new compound Li7Ge2. It crystallizes orthorhombic, space group Cmmm—D2h19, a = 9,24 ±0,02 Å b = 13,21 ± 0,02 A and c = 4,63 ± 0,01 A. Li7Ge2 is not isotypic to Li7Si2, but there are many structural relations between their structures.
