Abstract Energy consumption in residential sector has been increasing year by year since 1965. Reconsideration of a traditional energy supply system is needed to improve this present situation. Individual disp...ersed power source systems, such as photovoltaic system and housing micro cogeneration system, is considered as one of systems which enable to save energy for housing. In order to utilize the system effectively, understanding energy consumption of residential buildings is required. This paper presents measured results on seasonal energy consumption classified based on uses, seasonal trends of energy consumption in one day, and heating demand of residential buildings located in the north of Kyushu. The results are as follows: 1)Energy consumption for hot water supply is larger than ones for lighting, air-conditioning and cooking in most houses, 2)Energy consumption for each use and the daily pattern are strongly affected by members of family, schedule of living and hot water supply system, 3)Photovoltaic system and hot water supply heat-pump-type system using natural refrigerant CO2 are quite effective to save energy of residential buildings, 4)Heating demand and electric demand of residential buildings are clarified by detailed measurement for installing individual dispersed power source system.show more
