There are no clear standards or guidelines for approved methods for how to appropriately and effectively interact with clients or gain a better understanding of the clients. Hence, the training needs a discussion about the methods and perspectives by which certified social workers gain an understanding of the population that they serve rather than obstinately trying to differentiate it from care work. Moreover, the training environment should place great value on trainees’ interactions with clients to create respect for the unique features of both social work and care work, which does not simply
