Effect of weight content of carbonized MFC on the bending strength was discussed. The modified C/C composites were mechanically characterized by using a universal testing machine and mercury porosimeter. Test results showed that the significant improvement in the bending strength was appeared at condition of 1.0 wt% of addition, while the excessive addition of carbonized MFC was not effective to improve the bending strength. The morphology evaluation of fracture surface was revealed that the fiber braking was observed at the condition of 1.0 wt% of addition, while delamination was appeared on that of unmodified, 3.0 and 5.0 wt% of carbonized MFC addition. The SEM observation also revealed that local bridging of carbonized MFC was effective to improve the modeII fracture toughness evaluated by ENF (End Notch Failure) test when the 1wt% of carbonized MFC
