Least squares mean fecundities (Model D, see Materials and Methods) are plotted for D. melanogaster genotypes isolated from Congo, Africa (orange circles), Georgia, USA (green triangles), and New York, USA (blue squares). Plotted data are the square root of the total fecundity over the 48 hour experimental period for flies that were anesthetized with CO2 but otherwise uninjured. The genotype-by-temperature interaction is highly significant, p<0.0001.
