Photoprotective effect of Astragalus membranaceus polysaccharide on UVA-induced damage in HaCaT cells

AP could protect HaCaT cells against UVA-induced mitochondrial dysfunction.

HaCaT cells were seeded in 6-well plates and incubated with different concentrations of AP for 24 hours. And then, cells were treated with UVA (30J/cm2). After 12 hours, the activity of mitochondrial complexes I, II were measured. (a) Determination of mitochondrial complex I activity. (b) Determination of mitochondrial complex II activity. Values are the means ± SEM of the results at least six independent experiments. *P <0.05, **P <0.01, ***P < 0.001 and #P < 0.0001 mean significant difference compared to the UVA group.
