Each experimental trial comprised a binary image (BI) and a gray image (GI). Each stimulus was flickered at 7.5 Hz and presented for 2,500 ms in a specific order (BI- GI) after the fixation of 1,000 ms. Subjects were asked to respond by pressing one button to indicate they saw the image (recognition), and another if they did not (no-recognition).
