Extremely Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Fields Cause G1 Phase Arrest through the Activation of the ATM-Chk2-p21 Pathway

Figure 4

HaCaT cells were transfected with CHK2 siRNA or scrambled siRNA, followed by exposure to ELF-EMFs.

(a) Expression levels of CHK2 and CDKN1A genes in the CHK2 siRNA-treated and scrambled siRNA-treated group after 96 to 144 h of ELF-EMF exposure measured by qRT-PCR. (b) Growth curves of the CHK2 siRNA-treated (solid) and scrambled siRNA-treated (hollow) HaCaT cells. The HaCaT cells (1.0×105 cells) were seeded in a 10 cm tissue culture dish and incubated for 16 h prior to siRNA transfection. The results are presented as the mean ± SD of three independent experiments. The Student’s t-test was used to analyze the differences between the sham and exposure groups. *P<0.05.
