Levels of 54Mn in brain, heart and liver (as nCi/g tissue) were characterized 1 h post-dose of 54MnCl2 (200 mCi/kg body weight) to mice by intravenous injection (B). Empty and closed bars represent Hfe+/+ and Hfe−/− mice, respectively. Data were presented as mean ± SEM (n = 4−5 per group for 59Fe and n = 7−8 per group for 54Mn). * P<0.05 between Hfe+/+ and Hfe−/− mice determined by two-sample t-test.
