Effect of the nucleotide upstream from the stop codon (−1) on readthrough levels and response to gentamicin.

For DMD 319 and DMD 673, a U residue immediately upstream from the stop codon (−1) was replaced by each of the other nucleotides, separately. For DMD 931, p53 146, beta 17 and CF 122, the original nucleotide in the −1 position was replaced by a U residue. Readthrough efficiencies were measured as described in Figure 1. Each value shown is the mean of at least five independent experiments. The original nucleotide is underlined on each graph.
