Abstract
We report the first observation of an induced ultrafast supercontinuum pulse (IUSP) generation due to the presence of another intense pulse in a BK-7 glass. The enhancement of the spectral bandwidth of the weak pulse at λ1 by propagating an intense laser pulse at λ2 in condensed media is attributed to induced phase modulation1. This new effect has technological importance in communications and signal processing.
