Abstract
Various properties of potassium tantalate potassium niobate (KTN) related to pyroelectric detection were studied. Measurements of dielectric constant, spontaneous polarization, and pyroelectric coefficient versus electric field for various temperatures are given. Enhanced responsivity and D* due to improved pyroelectric coefficient with biasing was observed. Theoretical expressions exhibit similar results. A D* of
with no biasing and
at optimum biasing were obtained.
