Accurate switching intensities and length scales in quasi-phase-matched materials

Abstract

We consider unseeded second-harmonic generation in quasi-phase-matched quadratic materials and derive accurate expressions for the induced intensity dependent nonlinear phase-mismatch. We find the optimal crystal length for its use in switching devices.
