A hybrid plasmonic waveguide for sub-wavelength confinement and long range propagation

Abstract

We describe the coupling between surface plasmons and semiconductor fiber modes across a nano-scale gap leading to “capacitor-like” energy storage for sub-wavelength transmission and long range propagation. The approach could enable nano-scale semiconductor-based plasmonics.
