Competing Faraday and modulational instabilities in dispersion-managed high-Q microcavities

Abstract

We observed the competition between Faraday parametric instability and modulational instability in a dispersion-managed microcavity by changing the effective pump-resonance detuning. The Faraday ripple is triggered by the periodical oscillating group-velocity dispersion along the microcavity.
