Vortex-Crossing-Induced Timing Jitter of Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors

Abstract

We show that single-photon-triggered vortex (or anti-vortex) crossing in a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector induces timing jitter, which fundamentally limits the time-resolving capability of the detector.
