Abstract

"Torture as a Greater Evil": Human dignity has been for centuries the founding value of civilization and democracy. However, torture is increasingly being used as an investigative mean after 9/11 in spite of its proven inefficiency, and prestigious professors are recommending some levels of legalization. Torture is destroying our rule of law, corrupting our institutions, and spreading its stain to the whole society in which behalf it is supposedly being practiced. We need to come back to international and domestic rule of law, to this side of the threshold of decency, and this is the real lesser evil in the war on terror, the only way to successfully fight it in the long run.
