  • Announcement

Call for Papers—Research in African Literatures is preparing a special issue devoted to the new Nigerian novel. This is in recognition of the remarkable resurgence of the novel in Nigeria over the last decade and in response to the need to engage critically with the nature and implications of this development. The issue will focus on the work of "third generation" writers such as Sefi Atta, Helon Habila, Okey Ndibe, Helen Oyeyemi, Ike Oguine, Unoma Azuah, Chris Abani, Biyi Bandele, Akin Adesokan, Maik Nwosu, Promise Okekwe, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Contributors are also encouraged, however, to engage with the work of novelists who had not achieved international prominence. A more detailed Call for Papers can be obtained from the guest editors of the special issue, Pius Adesanmi (piusadesanmi@fastmail.fm) and Chris Dunton (c.dunton@nul.ls). The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2006.
