Abstract:
During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, Icelandic authors produced original romances and legendary sagas that contained their own forests of aventure. Influenced by earlier French romances, these authors created innovative imaginary geographies that combined foreign and indigenous cultural elements and thereby forged more varied and unpredictable literary worlds.
