Abstract: Kernel dehydration rate is one of the main factors which influence maize quality. Meanwhile, it also affects the mechanical harvest, grain dry, preservation, transportation and deep processing, etc. This paper reviewed the relationship between kernel dehydration rate and development stage, main agronomic traits, quality traits and QTL location research. Finally, we summarized the correlation between breeding strategies and measure methods on grain moisture content. The future research & development strategies on the kernel dehydration rate were put forward. It would provide ideas and methods for the cultivation of new varieties with high-yield and high kernel dehydration rate.
