Abstract: In order to widen the application and enhance the fire extinguishing efficiency of ordinary gel,a temperature-sensitive hydrogel P(NIPA-co-SA)was synthesized by phase separation. The product structure,temperature-sensitivity performance and relevant physical parameters were characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, surface tensiometer and viscometer.According to national standard GB17835-2008,the solid combustible fire experiment rig was established, and the fire extinguishing performance of water, ordinary gel and temperature-sensitive hydrogel were comparatively studied. The results show that:synthesized product is target product P(NIPA-co-SA).Because of volume phase transition(VPT)hydrogel became gelled when temperature is above lower critical solution temperature(LCST),and the surface tension was low and viscosity was high.0.3% is the recommended concentration for temperature-sensitive firefighting foam preparation, which can effectively quench solid combustible fire. Its fire extinguishing performance is better than that of water and ordinary fire extinguishing agent.
