This study aims to develop an automatic harvesting mechanism for soft leafy vegetables such as spinach in hydroponic facilities. To realize continuous harvesting operations, a belt gripping mechanism is applied. The prototype of the mechanism is designed and fabricated with considering of specification of actual hydroponic facilities. In addition, performance evaluations of conveying motion and pull-out force are conducted through experiments.
