Abstract

Four new triterpenoid saponins, gymnocladus saponins F₂ (1), F₁ (2), E (3) and D₁ (4), were isolated from the fruits of Gymnocladus chinensis BAILLON. On the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence, they were characterized structurally as 3, 28-bisglycosides of 2β, 23-dihydroxyacacic acid having a glycosyl monoterpene carboxylate as an acyl moiety.
