Abstract

Time-resolved measurements of the current and the voltage in a two-dimensional electron gas in the quantum Hall regime show that a d.c. current flowing in the 2DEG has a strong influence on the propagation of the edge-magnetoplasmon mode confined to edge channels. The variation of the amplitude and the velocity of this mode are related to the modification of the position and of the width of the incompressible strip under the d.c. Hall potential. The part of the Hall potential dropping across the edge channels is determined.
