Abstract

We present secondary electron energy spectra arising from collisions of hydrogen-like ions (C5+, N6+, O7+, Ne9+) on clean tungsten at kinetic energies below 600 eV. We find clearly resolved structures from KLL Auger electrons, and for the first time from LMM Auger electrons, both ejected from the projectile particles. From the relative intensities of the two peaks we conclude that the L-shell of the ions is not only populated via an Auger cascade, but also by some "side-feeding" processes.
