Material properties and processing in chemical product design
2012, Current Opinion in Chemical EngineeringCitation Excerpt :While several hundreds of papers connect to the concepts of ‘chemical product design and engineering’ (CPD&E), not more than 39 papers containing these keyword combinations were extracted in a recent literature analysis. Indeed, the vast amount of connecting literature reflects the breadth and multifaceted nature [9–11] of CPD&E, which is further characterized by a large number of papers that emphasize specific products [12–14], particular product sectors [15–19], or explicit product structures [20–27]. More generic papers discuss the need to focus on process design and on process–product design integration [28–30], the multiscaled nature of the discipline [31], and the need for customer and market integration [11,32] during design and development.
Towards multiscale modelling in product engineering
2011, Computers and Chemical EngineeringPerspective on multiscale methodology for product design and engineering
2009, Computers and Chemical EngineeringCitation Excerpt :Anyway challenges and opportunities still exist for the Process System Engineering PSE/CAPE community concerning several classes of chemical products, their design and their corresponding processes, (with respect to the important energy, environmental constraints and sustainable issues), together with the need for appropriate tools (Gani, 2004a; Gani & Grossmann, 2007). Indeed in all cases, integration of the product and process design problem is achieved by solving simultaneously some aspects of the individual product and process design (Wibowo & Ng, 2002; Hill, 2004; Voncken, Broekhuis, Heeres, & Jonker, 2004; Edwards, 2006). And there still exist a need for a framework for this integrated multiscale product-process design by employing computer-aid methods and tools.
