ABSTRACT

Nowadays, prefabricated architecture is recurrent and relevant. Increasing demand for higher quality and better design indicates the importance and renewed interest for prototypes and proposals led by a research group composed by architects, engineers and prefabrication entrepreneurs. From the early housing types catalogues or mass-manufactured houses to contemporary high-quality affordable ones based on low-tech solutions, in industrialization and standardization each period has given shape to its idea of off-site prefabrication, and has materialized it with the technique and materials available at that time across a gradual approach of the architect to the industry.
