ABSTRACT

The increasing industrialization has led to the accretion of several environment-deteriorating agents like heavy metals, dyes, and radionuclides. These agents have a catastrophic impact on the environment. Despite having several physiochemical tools for the elimination of toxicants from the environment, biosorbents are preferable because the former has several shortcomings like high energy requirements, harsh chemical usage, expensiveness, and being less efficient. Biosorbents are the most vital tool for the alleviation of pollutants from the environment. The information on biosorbent regarding the structural peculiarities and elemental composition is crucial for tracking the biosorption process. This chapter deals with several tools and techniques that play an essential role in biosorbent monitoring for unveiling its morphological aspects, elemental composition, and working mechanism. The chapter provides insights into several electrochemical tools as well as sophisticated instrumentations for revealing the changes occurring in the biosorbent during the biosorption process.
