ABSTRACT

Hair loss and scalp problems are prevalent concerns encountered in dermatology clinics. Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, can result in significant emotional distress, including anxiety and depression (1–3). It is common for patients experiencing hair loss and scalp problems to have consulted multiple physicians, only to have their concerns dismissed or advised to live with their condition. Despite the limited understanding of the pathophysiology of many hair disorders, various treatment options are available. It is crucial to inform the patient that the management of hair loss requires patience and a prolonged treatment course.
